ARTHUR 2 - ON THE ROCKS 1988 1 of 3 people found the following review helpful:UFFDA.... , May 16, 2006ByHenning Sebastian Jahre "Judy-Viv" (Oslo, Norway) - See all my reviewsThat`s Norwegian for "Ooops".... This is a tiresome "pastiche" in which Dudley Moore has lost the charms from 1981 and is just plain annoying. This happens with drunks in real life as well.... the charms and fun just escapes them when they reach the middleage and still refuses any kind of commitment... This is a needless sequel. The only reason it was made must have been because the stars filmcareers had come to a halt... It`s like a tiresome homemovie... Still, Liza Minnelli is a pleasure to see(though there is no depth in her charcter as well)... They ALL should have known better....

ARTHUR 1981 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful:Not a great film BUT GREAT PERFORMANCES, February 14, 2006ByHenning Sebastian Jahre "Judy-Viv"I saw this in 1981 in the theatre... it was the first I dared to see without my parents, but with friends.... "Independent" was not a word for me those days hehehe... In Oslo it run for over a year, it`success was huge;-) I recently saw it during the Xmas season and I must say that Dudley Moore is a charming Arthur - loveable, but also a bit tragic... I have known many Arthurs in my life - so this is NOT a farce-performance at all. John Gielgud is alarmingly miscast, no matter what the Academy said... Liza Minnelli is right on target and the chemistry with Moore is genuine.

RENT-A-COP 1988 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful:As a Liza vehicle - it could be a six..., May 18, 2006ByHenning Sebastian Jahre "Judy-Viv"As a product.... only 2 points... There is a pleasurable 80`s soundtrack(I first saw it in the theatre when I was in the military, the spring of 1988), but the highlight is Liza Minnelli in her best comic turn and with her good lines - she delivers PLENTY:-)))))))))))))))))

CABARET 1972 THE BEST, July 12 2004ByHenning Sebastian Jahre "Judy-Viv" (Oslo, Norway) - See all my reviews As for musical-drama concerned... THIS IS IT! The producers of Chicago should have seen this(indeed they did - every major moment in that film is "stolen" from Cabaret) and put REAL musical stars in the film. When u have Joel and Liza u are not let down... I give flowergreetings to the entire cast and crew... The filmversion of Cabaret has a lot of "new songs"(Maybe This Time, Mein Herr, The Money Song) and the plot follows the 1955-movie "I AM A CAMERA" more than the stage musical. Since then; the Liza-songs have found themselves in numerous revivals of this stageplay since this 1972-masterpiece. The film is still frightening and raw......Trivia: The scene in which Liza meets Marisa they talk about diseases... On video, here in Europe at least, that was cut....

NEW YORK NEW YORK 1977 1 of 7 people found the following review helpful:LIZA at HER MAGIC BEST, February 7, 2006ByHenning Sebastian Jahre "Judy-Viv"...but unfortunately it is a bit difficult to warm up this film to due to Robert DeNiro`s unlikeable character. The interplay between Bobby and Liza are THE BEST. Unfortunately it echoes Mama`s A STAR IS BORN 1954 storylinewise. The "HAPPY ENDING" number is a blueprint of Judy`s "BORN IN A TRUNK"-number. The titlesong is good, but sadly it is clear that Liza mimes the number(as are the routine), but she doesn`t open her mouth wide enough for the last note..... See it for the musical numbers if you are NOT in the mood of 3 hours of a male "hero" only a wolfmother would love hehehe

Liza with a 'Z' - Concert for Television (Collector's Edition)2 of 9 people found the following review helpful:Liza on her own - H E R own...., April 11, 2006It took her a long time to emerge from the long shadows of Mama, but in 1972 she came into her OWN and made history with the film Cabaret, a live performance at the Olympia in Paris and this TV-show:-) It took some awards, but seeing this in 2006 - I must say that some of the things have dated badly.... The choreography on I Gotcha, Ring Them Bells(alarmingly amateurish) and Son of the Preacherman is executed by Bob Fosse as if he had a migraine headache... This is NOT his best work. As for Liza.... I saw u live on October 19 2005 and I met u - and I gotta tell u girl: U JUST GET BETTER AND BETTER!!!!!!! In 1972 u hadn`t quite reached the magic that I saw with u, Sinatra and Davis Jr in 1989 or last year. ....All alone on stage... I mean when u belt out My Mammy, Maybe This Time and the segment from Cabaret; u are a wonder to behold... So electric.... so good.....Words cannot express enough... The bonus material is ace, though I must say that I saw u on Dave Letterman show last Friday, and u have gained weight again... It`s only about 6 months since I saw u, but girl - I hope and pray u will be back in that great form u showed us in Oslo.. We STILL talk about that night... I have NEVER seen u more powerful than that night and I`ll never forget the kindness u showed us after the gig... A german fan waited outside the Oslo Konserthus and u even invited him and some others to join in on your soundcheck... After the show u said to us: "Everybody will have autographs and take pictures"... I was the first 1 and we exchanged some remarks since u DID notice me jumping up and down in the audience.... I must tell u Miss Minnelli - it was propably the greatest night in my life and tears streamed down my cheeks afterwards... I thank u for your legacy and that u are the person - the GIVING, warm person that U R:-)))

Stepping OutAs a Liza vehicle - a 5 indeed, Dec 10 2005 .... in this she sparkles, she shines.... there are elements of Michael Jackson and mama(watch Judy singing Swanee in A STAR IS BORN) and compare it to Liza`s belting of the song Stepping Out....The supporting cast is good if on the cardboard-side.... It`s a shame it was released straight to the video market(we didn`t see it in Norway until 1993), cause it remains a solid hand of work. On October 19 2005 I met Liza Minnelli in Oslo and I thanked her for giving us the best concert of hers in years... This was NOT a has been diva, but a legend - still growing, still working and still in fine voice.True, her dancing efforts are history compared to this film, but the audience wouldn`t let her go and she finally sang I`ll Be Seeing You -acapella....This may be her last musical on the screen, but it certainly is a testament(with CABARET and NEW YORK NEW YORK) of how great and versatile she once was....

THE GREATEST DAY OF MY LIFE

Translated from my diary, recorded on October 20, 2005 at 11:26
I think that both GOD and JUDY GARLAND smiled down at me yesterday and proclaimed "Let`s give this boy the time of his life..."

By the way, I`m having a ball at the moment, but as I went to town I had silent praires... "I had to see, meet and talk to her...."

As she entered the stage I was mad with ovation - We sat on the 4th row(wrong it was 3d - updated February 17 2008) - in the middle of the Oslo Concert Hall and watched LIZA MINNELLI. The last time I saw her was on April 13, 1989 with Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr at the Ekeberg Hall.
The audience was genereally quite grown up, but WE ALL EXPLODED:)(:...... Young as old... we screamed our cheers... Carnegie Hall had come to the Oslo Concert Hall.
Liza... You ARE EVEN BETTER THAN EVER!!! And I`ve got 4 videoshots on my mobile as a testament of it(I`ve got ALL of Theme from New York, New York)...

When you introduced "Sailor Boys" I screamed out and you smiled down at me - you did that several times.... I just enjoyed you gal - my daughter hehehe - You wanted to sing a song from "Chicago"and I shouted out "All That Jazz"..... You smiled and said, "Not THAT 1...." Afterwards you gave me a smiling pointed finger hehehe...

Then you started to talk about Mama, that you were at Carnegie Hall in 1961, I yelled again and you said "Oh you got the album??????" - then told the story of how Mama(JUDY GARLAND) made you give a pair of shoes to the drummer(Bill LaVorgnia whom I also saw in 1989) who in fact you felt was ACE. "He`s the BEST and we`ll keep him in the family. AND I ALWAYS DID WHAT MY MAMA TOLD ME!!!"
Then you asked "Do you want MAYBE THIS TIME or THE WORLD GOES `ROUND?... With help I yelled for the first suggestion and GOT MY WILL:)(:...
After "New York" I run up on stage and shook your hand exstatically; you have soft, glorious hands my girl and the look and smile you gave me, likewise...
YOU WERE GRATEFUL for the cheering and shouting in front of you and finished the session with an a`capella version of I`LL BE SEEING YOU.

Afterwards we stood by the stagedoor and some 30 minutes later you did come out and I said "Thanks for a good show..." You replied "You were good too,... " "Did you see me???" The answer was a sarcastic/humerous "NO!" hahahahahahahahahahahaha

We took the first picture together and you took a paper out of my hands and wrote "LOVE LIZA"... You were so humble, good and nice.... MAMA WOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD:-)))

I do feel that FORCES CAME ABOUT AND GAVE ME SOMETHING I`D NEVER EVEN DARE TO DREAM ABOUT...
THANKS FOR MY BEST EXPERIENCE IN CONCERT EVER LIZA MINNELLI.... Indeed you are the king AND queen(a quatation from Theme from New York, New York)... I will dine on this for the rest of my life...
After the concert we went to the London Pub and many had seen and heard me in the audience hehe - I took a drink - sat down by myself and cried.... of gratitude... That I would experience something like this...... I.......

My friend Trygve Dukane had the pleasure of being the last 1 she posed with.... My mobile was slow... I said "stand still...." Liza gave me a mock face and said "I aaaaaaaaaaaam staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanding STILL!"
