This story must have looked good on paper indeed.... Still; the film rushes through its events and why did it have to do that?? It has a two hour traffic....
However - the film depicts a most beautiful bohemian relationship between artist man and woman---- Some scenes are reminiscent of my own awakenings decades ago and made me cry....

As an artistic product it is a glossy tearjerker.... So no great shakes there....
Eddie Redmayne`s performance lacks nuances and is all smiling through tears.... Swedish Alicia Vikander and Belgian Matthias Schoenaerts(who looks like a young Putin hehe) however excell in their character drawings....
Since the time is 2016 and LGBT rights has to be fought more than ever, this film is important as a statement! Many scenes are picturesque, but as mentioned - the script should have paid more attention to to both story and character development... so this is not successful as a whole....
